Health Minister Confirms Capping Hospital Parking Fees

Health Minister Simon Harris has confirmed that the department is introducing a cap on hospital parking charges in 2019.

Visitors and outpatients will pay a maximum of €10 per day, while there will also be special passes for frequent visitors.

Simon Harris ordered a review of hospital parking fees in March and is due to publish the final report soon.

Speaking this morning, Minister Harris said that the new system will be implemented in 2019: 'This is going to take a little bit of work because you're going to have to make sure each individual hospital is prepared for it. So I expect to publish the report shortly, to fund it through the service plan and to implement it in 2019'.
