The Health Minister has reiterated his view that a referendum is needed, before legislation is passed to deal with terminations in the case of fatal foetal abnormalities.
This week, The Dail debated a bill brought by Independent TD Mick Wallace; with Simon Harris saying that although he would like to see a change in these cases, he couldn't accept the proposed legislation as the Attorney General indicated that it was unconstitutional.
However, some Independent TDs in cabinet, say they want a 'free-vote' on the issue when it comes before the Dail again this week.
