One of the two Irish athletes who've had their results upgraded as a result of a global investigation into doping in sport has been expressing his delight at the news today.
Russia has been in the international spotlight over what's been regarded as a widespread illegal drugs programme there which came to light in irregularities in the biological passports of six international athletes.
Today the international court of arbitration for sport has ruled that Race Walkers Robert Heffernan and Olive Loughnane will be upgraded with Olympic bronze and World gold medals after the formal disqualification of the drugs cheats in their events.

Loughnane is being upgraded from silver to gold over 20km in the 2009 World Championships in Berlin while Heffernan will be awarded the Olympic bronze medal for the 50km walk from the London games.
Tom Swift reports on the long walk from the disappointment of London 2012:

Heffernan celebrated on line by posting an image of a bronze medal to his Facebook page.
