Limerick Fire Service is hoping to become the first in the country to use helicopter drones, when responding to emergencies.

The service says the drones - if approved by the aviation authority - could help save lives.

Assistant Chief Fire Officer Niall Murray says his officers have already been trained to operate a "Quadcopter", which will help them assess any major emergency.
