The new government has promised to have high-speed broadband for every premises in Ireland by the year 2021 - if not sooner.
The promise is contained in the new Programme for Government, published by the Fine Gael-Independent coalition this evening.

It also promises to set up a taskforce to examine mobile phone coverage within 100 days of taking office.
The programme also includes concessions to independents including a promise not to close any small schools, and laws to restore turf-cutting rights in 46 designated areas.
