As temperatures plummet, motorists are reminded not to pour boiling water on their car windscreen to remove frost and ice.

A simple solution to defrosting your windscreen is put forward by meteorologist Ken Weathers - Yes that actually  is his name.

He says a better way to defrost your windscreen than using an ice scraper or a defroster, is a simple solution of rubbing alcohol and water from a spray bottle.
