Human Actions To Blame For European Temperature Record Of 48.8°C

Forecasters say Europe's hottest summer on record wouldn't have happened without human-induced climate change.

A new European record was set in Sicily - where it got to 48-point-8 degrees Celsius.

The UK Met Office says without climate change, a record would only be hit once in 10-thousand years.

Speaking at the Cop26 climate summit, spokesperson Professor Peter Stott says it cannot continue.

"In the last two years we've seen some many devastating floods and droughts around the world."

"Now is the time that action really needs to start to bite," he said.
