Hundreds of people are expected to gather in Athlone today for the funeral of a couple killed in the Tunisian beach shooting.

Laurence and Martina Hayes will be buried after the 11 oÂ’clock service at the church of Saints Peter and Paul.

Last night, over 2-thousand people queued along the Strand in the town to pay their respects at the coupleÂ’s removal mass.

At the service, Father Liam Devine said the ‘hearts of a nation’ bled for Lonnie and Martina Hayes - killed in last week’s terror attack in Tunisia.

More than 2-thousand people turned out along the Strand in Athlone as they reposed in a funeral home - with the large crowds forcing the removal mass to be delayed by an hour.

The couple - who were married for over 30 years - were waiting for a bus to the airport when they were shot dead along with 36 others last Friday.

They are survived by their daughter Sinead.

Meanwhile, third Irish victim Lorna Carty from Co Meath will be laid to rest tomorrow - following her funeral mass in Robinstown.
