Hundreds have been protesting in the German city of Cologne - where as many as 90 women have reported being sexually assaulted and robbed by groups of young, mostly drunk, men on New Year's Eve.

Chancellor Angela Merkel has expressed shock over the attacks and says everything must be done to find those responsible.

Police say they're hunting around a thousand suspects of Arab or North African appearance.
