Hungary's sealed off the main unofficial crossing point from Serbia that's been used by thousands of migrants to enter Europe.
A rail cargo container covered with razor wire now blocks it - with anyone trying to breach the fence facing arrest.
Meanwhile, EU ministers have agreed in principle to allow a further 120-thousand asylum seekers to settle in member states - but haven't worked out how to do it.
They'll meet again next month to discuss giving each country a quota - which the likes of Slovakia and Hungary are against.
The Hungarian border is now effectively shut, with refugees who cross illegally risking arrest.
