Hundreds of migrants have broken through police lines on Hungary's border with Serbia and are walking towards the capital, Budapest.
It comes as France says it will take in 24-thousand refugees over two years, amid demands by Germany and Austria that other EU countries do more.
Meanwhile Hungary, the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Romania, have rejected the idea of official quotas.
