Early reports suggest Mexico may have avoided heavy damage - after one of the most powerful storms ever recorded made landfall.
Hurricane Patricia, which was packing winds of 165-miles-an-hour, has been downgraded from a category 5 to a category 4 storm.
The concern now is about flooding and landslides in rural areas.
Thousands of people were evacuated in advance of the storm.
