The Chief Executive of the Irish Sports Council says the IABA tried to 'misdirect' and 'distract' from its failure to keep Billy Walsh.

Officials from the Irish Amateur Boxing Association and Sport Ireland are appearing before TDs today to account for their role in the national head coach's depature last week.

Billy Walsh claims he was 'clearly not wanted' by the IABA - however the association denies there was a campaign to 'oust' him.

Sport Ireland's Kieran Mulvey says he's 'at a loss' as to how negotiations surrounding one of the IABA's most vital employees were allowed to drag on for 8 months.

Chief Executive of the Irish Sports Council John Treacy says the IABA's commentary in the media has been unhelpful.
