Dublin Airport at Christmas is a magical place. Only the hardest of heart could fail to be moved by visions of reuniting families and friends, and Christmas carols fill the air.

Close to a million passengers are due to travel through the airport during the Christmas season, with numbers up almost 20%.

But one Mayo lad hatched a plan to make sure that his love felt like the only girl in the world.

Martin Mulroe met Louise Mooney at the airport two and a half years ago, when Louise brought her sister's engagement ring for Martin to bring back to Australia.

Louise was sitting an exam at the RDS that morning, and expected to meet Martin at the airport with her sister, who explained away the large media presence, saying that Conor McGregor was due to come through T2.

She gave a delighted whoop when Martin arrived, and then it slowly dawned on Louise as he got down on bended knee to pop the question.
