It's reported the former General Secretary of the Irish Farmers Association agreed a severance package totaling two million euro, when he resigned form the body last week.
Pat Smith left his role at the IFA last week amid controversy over his salary arrangements.
The Irish Farmers Journal says the news has been confirmed an an emergency meeting of the IFA executive in Dublin this evening.
It's understood the association will contest the agreement in court.
