Questions are being raised about the ability of the Irish Farmers Association to hold a presidential election in 60 days.

It follows the resignation of Eddie Downey last night amid controversy over pay for senior members.

It's emerged he signed off on a two million euro severance package for former General Secretary Pat Smith - something the association is now going to launch a legal challenge to.
