Eddie Downey says he was left with no option but to stand down as IFA President.
He's been speaking for the first time since he resigned 6 days ago due to a scandal about salaries at the top of the organisation.
He says he was 'thrown under a bus' at a meeting last week, and also that he had approval and didn't act alone for the 2 million euro severance package for the former General Secretary Pat Smith.
He said he is speaking now "to put the record straight," and he stand overs all he has done including resigning.
