Industrial Action Could Be On The Way At Dublin Bus

Industrial action could be on the way at Dublin Bus, after SIPTU and NBRU members overwhelmingly rejected a Labour Court recommendation on pay and conditions.

Workers have voted against the proposal of an 8.25 per cent pay rise over the next three years.

They had sought increases of up to 31 per cent to bring them into line with Luas drivers and to reflect the fact that they haven't had a pay increase since 2008.

The NBRU says it will immediately ballot its members for industrial action.

Some SIPTU members are still voting on the recommendation - with the results to be announced next week.

STIPU organisers will then meet with section committees to discuss the results of the ballot and decide whether to initiate industrial action.

SIPTU's John Murphy, says they are willing to engage with management but workers feel the Labour Court recommendation does not take into account, sacrifices made by staff in recent years:
