Measures to address the rising cost of motor insurance will take time - according to the Minister tasked with examining the matter.

Minister of State at the Department of Finance, Eoghan Murphy is leading an investigation into how costs have risen by 40 percent in the past year.

The Joint Committee on Finance has begun hearings this afternoon - it's heard that four sub-groups will look at insurance premiums, the availability of data on insurance, the cost of claims and issues like fraud and uninsured drivers.
