A huge Australian cow that was deemed too big for slaughter is set to live out his days on his farm near Perth.

‘Knickers the cow’ is actually a bull steer – a neutered male.

He hit the headlines yesterday after it emerged he was too big to fit through abattoir processing machines.

Now his owner Geoff Pearson has said he is proud that Knickers will live out his life as king of the herd on his Lake Preston farm in Western Australia.

The big bovine is a Holstein Friesian – a breed of cow that hails from Friesland in the north of the Netherlands.

He stands 6 feet, 4 inches tall from hoof to shoulder and weighs around 1.5 tonnes.

While there is no doubt that Knickers is a monster of a steer, he is not actually the world’s tallest.

According to the Guinness Book of World Records, Bellino, a chianina ox from Italy is the tallest living steer in the world at 6 foot, 7 inches.
