Three people are still in custody after being charged in connection with the theft of high voltage power lines in Co Kildare.
The three – who’ve identified themselves as Romanian – have been refused bail as Gardai investigate what they call a sophisticated operation involving international criminal gangs targeting this country.
ThereÂ’s been a huge increase in the theft of power lines, with 140 kilometres of copper conductor wire stolen from the ESB since 2012, costing 27 million euro to replace.
