A second investigation is underway at Cavan General Hospital following the death of another baby.
In a statement this afternoon the Health Service Executive says a baby born at the hospital yesterday died this morning.
A full review of the circumstances surrounding the death will be carried out.
Management at the hospital has offered its sympathies to the family on their tragic loss and say they hope they will be given the privacy to deal with their grief, while the HSE says it will be making no further comment.
A separate investigation is already underway following the death of a newborn baby at the hospital late last month.
