An investigation is underway following the death of a man who had earlier been arrested in County Kildare.

The 23 year old was taken into custody in Maynooth and brought to Leixlip Garda station, where an ambulance was called.

He was taken to James Connolly Memorial Hospital in Blanchardstown, where he died later in the afternoon.
