At least 44 people have been killed and more than 500 injured in two huge explosions in north-western China.

They happened at a warehouse in the port city of Tianjin where dangerous chemicals were stored.

12 firefighters are among the dead - and 36 others are missing.

The first blast caused a massive fireball that could be seen from space while the impact could be felt several kilometres away with hundreds of buildings and cars destroyed.

Hospitals have been overwhelmed with the amount of people injured.

The Government says a thorough transparant investigation is underway.

I've been speaking to journlaist Valentino Luo who is in China.
