The Pentagon says two US Navy boats have been taken into Iranian custody in the Persian Gulf.

Up to 10 US Navy sailors are being held by Iran's Revolutionary Guard.

It's after at least one vessel became disabled and drifted into Iranian territorial waters.

However, the US says it's been assured by Iran that the crew will be returned 'promptly'.
