Ireland is now home to the world biggest banana company after a merger between Irish owned Fyffes bananas and Chiquita.
The agreement announced this morning will create a firm that operates in more than 70 countries and employs around 32 thousand people globally.
Chiquita-Fyffes will be listed on the New York Stock Exchange and be domiciled in Dublin.
Shares in Fyffes have soared by 29 per cent on the back of the deal.
