The Tánaiste says Ireland will accept at least 1,100 asylum seekers from Greece by September next year.
Frances Fitzgerald has been meeting with Greek Prime Minister, Alexis Tsipras as part of her official visit to the country with Minister for Children Katherine Zappone.
Minister Fitzgerald says the Government is determined to welcome vulnerable people fleeing war and conflict.
The figure of 1,100 includes those who have already arrived here.
