Boots Ireland insists its stores will not be impacted by job cuts.

It comes after it was announced that 4,000 jobs were being cut in the UK.

In a statement, the pharmacy chain says this "relates to the restructuring of Head Office, store and optician roles across the UK and does not include roles at Boots Ireland".

The UK arm of the brand says it's had to reduce its workforce by 7% to mitigate the "significant impact" of Covid-19.

Boots Ireland says it will continue to monitor and review operations across the country.

It currently has 89 stores here and over 2,000 employees.
