Apple can't name their new smart watch an 'iWatch' because the name has already been patented by an Irish-based company.

A software company called Probendi - run by an Italian but based in Athlone - bought the European trademark for the name 'iWatch' back in 2008 - and he's warned Apple not to use it.

That means the tech giant may have to stick with the name 'Apple watch', to add to its selection of iMacs, iPods and iPads.

It's reported that Prodendi plans to release it's own wearable smartwatch shortly, which includes a square touchscreen, GPS and health tracking.
