SIPTU staff at Irish Rail have voted against all-out strike action if the company presses ahead with cost cutting plans.
But, with the majority of workers in favour of some form of industrial action, the union says it would call a one day work stoppage if pay cuts are forced through.
Irish Rail has agreed to contacting the trade unions about its proposed course of action in the coming days to address what it calls the ongoing financial crisis at the company.
