Irish ready for their close-up at Sunday's Oscars

There's a green invasion Los Angeles-bound this weekend, as Hollywood prepares for the biggest date in its calendar.

It's Oscars' night on Sunday and among the Irish in contention is Saoirse Ronan for Best Actress in Brooklyn, along with Kerry's Michael Fassbender for Best Actor in Steve Jobs.

Dubliner Benjamin Cleary's nominated for his short film Stutterer - he told Anton Savage it's an honour to be in such company:

Lenny Abrahamson's Room has the most nods - it's up for Best Director, Best Actress for Brie Larson and Best Screenplay for author Emma Donoghoe.

It's also in the running for the BIG one - Best Film, along with John Crowley's Brooklyn.

In all Irish films picked up a record nine nominations, the largest ever for the film industry here.
