An Irish rower who suffered a fall at a competition in Poland last Sunday has died.

Ailish Sheehan from Limerick was competing in the FISU World University Championships for Rowing in Poznan.

The 23 year old had won a bronze medal for University of London Boat Club before suffering the fall.

Rowing Ireland has extended its condolences to her family and friends.
