Banks in Greece are closed and will remain shut for the rest of the week after the ECB decided not to extend emergency funding to the cash strapped nation.

A 60 euro limit has been applied on ATM withdrawls leading to long queues at bank machines.

Meanwhile some Irish tourists say they are experiencing difficulty using credit and debit cards in holiday resorts and shop owners will only take cash in small denominations.

The Greek debt crisis took a dramatic turn over the weekend when after talks with creditors on continuing with the bailout programme failed.

Tomorrow the mother of all deadlines looms when the government is due to pay 1.6 billion euro to the the International Monetary fund.

The Greek government is trying very hard to paint a picture of business as usual but Harry Lee from Dublin and Graeme O'Rourke from Cork who are in Greece say businesses are encouraging people to use cash only and in small denominations.
