The Taoiseach's announced that Irish Water will set up a "people's forum" to deal with public concerns.

Enda Kenny made the announcement in the Dáil this lunchtime, ahead of an official announcement on an overhaul of water charges this afternoon.

The new initiative is aimed at helping to build more public trust in the new Irish Water institution, as well as ensuring the utility company is fully aware of customer concerns.

The news comes ahead of a formal Dáil announcement where the government will confirm a capped annual bill of €60 for single-adult households, and €160 for all others.

Charges will be capped until the end of 2018, with reports of a permanent legal cap on water charges to ensure that charges do not spiral out of control when the original cap is rescinded.
