An Irishman in his twenties has died following an accident in Italy.

This incident happened over the weekend when the Dubliner fell from a balcony at an apartment in Naples.

The young man had been living in the city and working as an English teacher.

Its understood the he initially survived the fall but later died of his injuries.

The Department of Foreign Affairs says its providing consular assistance to his family.
