An Islamic State assault on the northern Iraqi city of Kirkuk has come to an end.

The Iraqi authorities say all the attackers were killed or blew themselves up.

The militants killed at least 22 people during the assault.

It is being seen as an attempt to divert government and Kurdish forces, who are trying to liberate the city of Mosul from I.S. control.
