Syria's president claims Islamic State has been gaining recruits since the start of US-led air strikes against the militant group.
Bashar al-Assad has told an American news channel the group's adding one-thousand new members a month in his country.
The US is trying to negotiate an end to Syria's civil war that excludes Assad, but has made clear its top priority there is the fight against Islamic State.
