Israel is understood to have conditionally agreed to extend the current 72 hour ceasefire in Gaza.
The announcement is reported to have come from an Israeli official.
There has been no response so far from Hamas.
It comes as Egyptian mediators are working with Israeli and Palestinian officials in Cairo to try to work out a more permanent peace deal.
The Israeli Prime Minister has tonight accused Hamas of hiding behind its civilian population and exploiting civilian targets.
