Shelling of Gaza resumes after truce breached

The Israeli Defence Forces say they've resumed shelling in Gaza, claiming Hamas broke a 2 hour truce.

The brief humanitarian ceasefire was at the request of the International Red Cross, after hundreds of residents fled shelling in Shaja'iya. 

50 Palestinians were killed in the latest assault, bringing the death toll since the beginning of Israel's offensive to over 400.

UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon is due to arrive in Qatar later to meet Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas.

A rally is being held in London in support of Israel's military campaign in the Gaza Strip.

The Jewish National Fund is calling on people to show 'solidarity' with what it says is Israel's 'right to self-defence against terrorism'.

Yesterday, thousands of people gathered both in Dublin and in London for a rally against the current violence in Gaza.

UNICEF is concerned over the plight of children in the region.
