The Carers Association says the government's made poor progress in implementing its own Carers Strategy, and that some areas are getting worse.
It's calling for funding to be restored, and says carers save the state four billion euro a year.

The group, which represents 187 thousand carers in Ireland, says cuts to respite and housing grant funding are having a huge impact on the work they do.
Spokeswoman Catherine Cox says they looked at the 42 action points contained in the strategy, to see how much progress was being made;
