209 women have been killed in the past 20 years, with the majority dying at the hands of a man they knew.
Since 1996, 16 children aged 5 months to 13 years died alongside their mothers in that time frame.

The Government Chief Whip, Regina Doherty said she was ashamed of the cuts to Women's Aid during the downturn, which were enforced by the last government, of which she was a part;
Stephen Walsh's sister Ann was murdered in August 2005.
