The Dáil has signed a new law this evening making it illegal for religious-run schools to discriminate against LGBT teachers.
The Bill amends the Employment Equality Act to remove the so-called 'chill factor' where teachers could be treated differently if their sexuality or family status didn't conform with the religious ethos of the institution.
The changes are seen as complimentary to the new marriage equality laws.
The Bill has already passed through the Seanad and will now go to the President for signing.
