The Labour leader Joan Burton, says she's disappointed with the lack of clarity in new Programme for Government.

The former Tanaiste says she doesn't see the document, drawn up by Fine Gael and Independent TDs, as being a traditional Programme for Government.

However, the Labour TD did welcome the inclusion of plans to deal with the homeless crisis.

Deputy Burton said she was disappointed at the new government's plans, considering it took 70 days to put them together:

Meanwhile, Labour TD Brendan Howlin says he still hasn't decided whether or not he'll be putting himself forward as the next leader of the Labour Party.

The former Minister for Public Expenditure says he is still in the process of considering what role he'll play in rebuilding the Labour Party.

Nominations for Joan Burton's successor opened yesterday, and will close at noon on Friday.

So far, Alan Kelly is the only of the seven Labour TDs who has publicly declared his intention to run for the leadership position.

But Brendan Howlin says he will take on a role that is in line with the wishes of the Labour Parliamentary Party.
