Judge asks jury to put emotion aside in GP's trial

The judge in the trial of an Offaly GP accused of killing her severely disabled daughter has asked the jury to leave all emotion to one side.

Bernadette Scully has pleaded not guilty to the manslaughter of Emily Barut at Emvale, BachelorÂ’s Walk in Tullamore on September 15th 2012.

In his final address to the jury, defence barrister Ken Fogarty described the trial as an “emotional rollercoaster”.

Earlier, Tara Burns for the prosecution, said Ms Scully had breached her duty of care to her daughter through an act of gross negligence
