The jury in the trial of three former Anglo Irish Bank officials has retired to consider its verdict.

No decision was reached after a first day of deliberations at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court today.

Aoife Maguire, Bernard Daly and Tiarnan O’Mahoney deny all charges.

Judge Patrick McCartan told jurors this morning that they must leave all ‘hard views’ about Anglo and the events of the past aside when considering their verdict.

He told the 5 women and 6 men of the jury that Anglo Irish Bank itself is not on trial.

62-year-old Aoife Maguire of Rothe Abbey, South Circular Road Dublin; 67-year-old Bernard Daly of Collins Avenue West, Whitehall and 56-year-old Tiarnan O’Mahoney of Glen Pines, Enniskerry, Co Wicklow - all deny trying to hide accounts connected to the bank’s former chairman Sean FitzPatrick between 2003 and 2004.

No decision was reached by the jury this afternoon - they’ll resume deliberations at 10.30 tomorrow morning.
