Jury selection in Fitzpatrick trial

A jury is to be sworn in today for the trial of former Anglo Irish Bank Chairman Sean FitzPatrick.

The 66 year old is accused of failing to disclose the true value of bank loans.

Jury selection will take place this morning at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court.

The trial will start next Monday and could last up to 8 weeks.

Sean FitzPatrick has been charged with failing to disclose to auditors Ernst and Young the true value of loans worth around 139 million euro.

The loans were allegedly issued by Irish Nationwide Building Society on dates between 2002 and 2007 while he was an officer of Anglo Irish Bank
The charges against the former Chairman are brought under Section 197 of the 1990 Companies Act.
