Justice minister: No independent inquiry into GSOC

The justice minister has again ruled out the prospect of an independent inquiry into allegations of bugging at the Garda Ombudsman.

Alan Shatter says he is willing to appear before TDs at an Oireachtas committee to answer questions - but says there are no grounds for an external inquiry into the claims.

Minister Shatter says GSOC is still carrying out its own internal inquiries into how the suspicions were leaked to the media, and that they must be allowed to continue first.
