Enda Kenny has offered Micheál Martin a full and equal partnership Government.

Fine Gael has released a statement tonight to reveal the party has officially made the historic offer to Fianna Fáil. 

The leaders of the two party's met today after they both failed in their efforts to be elected Taoiseach.

Fianna Fáil says both leaders admitted a minority Government wouldn't work. 

Both parliamentary parties will meet on Thursday morning to discuss tonight's developments. 

It comes 40 days after the country went to the polls.
