A young man who drowned in the Netherlands has been named locally as Alan Lucid from Ballyheigue in Co. Kerry.
It's reported the 28-year-old man got into difficulty in the water in Egmond aan Zee in northern Holland at around 4am on Thursday morning.
The PhD student at University College Cork was attending an international science conference.
The Department of Foreign Affairs is providing consular assistance to the family.
