The most senior civil servant in the Department of Finance on the night of the bank guarantee is this week expected to question evidence previously heard by the banking inquiry.
Kevin Cardiff is expected to come before TDs this week and give evidence about the banks' role in the blanket guarantee - and contact between then Taoiseach Brian Cohen and his Finance Minister Brian Lenihan.
The Sunday Business Post published details of Mr Cardiff's 380 page submission - and the inquiry is also likely to question how it was leaked to the media.
Reporter Jack Horgan Jones says Kevin Cardiff's comments on Brian Cowen and Brian Lenihan's discussions will be crucial.
